My brother and I fished differnt Erie backwater than what Rick has been fishing. However we had pretty much the same results. Water temps in the low 40's made the fish bite a bit softer than the last time we were out. Although we did not get any pigs largest was around 3 lbs. We did get well over 50 fish between the two of us. Our number one bait was a drop shot rig with a Cucumber Globy. Other baits colors worked but the Cucumber seemed to be best. Lets hope this weather holds so we can...

Headed out this morning for one final trip before I put the boat up for the year. Water temp had drop in to the low 40's. Fished for about 4 hours before calling it quits. We only landed one fish that wouldn't have made the 14" mark. We had a few other bites but never hooked up. The only fish we caught came on a jig and got hits on cranks. Unloaded the boat for the year and plan on winterizing it tomorrow after work.

Went out yesterday afternoon to pre-fish for a local club tournment this Sunday. Water temp was 50 degrees and gin clear. You can see down 15'. Fished from 4:00pm until dark, sometime after 6:30, with hardly any bites. One of the bites did hook up and was a small keeper but that was it. Hopefully the action will pick up by Sunday.

My friend picked me up at 7:30 to go fishing. It was drizzling out but the radar looked like it would clear so we were off. We put in on Coldwater and went to a flat. We caught two bass one on a spinner and one on a crankbait. The wind was picking up so we blew around the corner and fished some more. My buddy proceded to hook two pike both on spinner baits. Off to Shawnee Shoals. There were tried to get out of the wind and warm up. I picked up another bass on a wacky worm (my go to...

Winds let up enough that I decided to make another trip to Lake Erie. There was floating logs and wood all over the place. Which made the run there and back a little nerve racking. I think the wood was from the high winds and rain we had this week.

Fished from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Water temps were around 50 degrees. The bite today wasn't near as good as last time. Matter of fact, I ran into another bass angler that was there fishing.
Had good day in 3 to 6 foot of water with Jerk Bait. Caught some very nice Smallies biggest around 3 1/2 lb. Alot of Largemouth but only a couple of any size. And as a bonus I got to handle some Pike too. Some of the Largemouth came from deeper water on a worm. It was a little windy but all in all not to bad of a day on the water. Only bad thing for the whole day, my trim and tilt quit working. I had to use the jack from my truck to get the transon saver on. Hopefully I can get it...

Had my hopes up for both Sat and Sun. Sat went out by myself to a pond that I use to fish and actually do well. Sat was not the day, fished 4 hrs walked the entire thing with zero bites. I was really excited about this trip and what a huge let down. So here comes Sunday morning 5am off to Wamplers and Round lake up in the Irish Hills in Mich. Again very hyped up for this trip, knowing I catch fish on these lakes. Kept in contact with a local whos telling me the bites been on and the Pike are...

I'm going to be spending the day of Oct 19 on the Grand River and I've never been there. Can anyone tell me what to expect in regards to fishing and navigation. I've got a Hot Spots map on order which should help. I'd like to fish both the river and Lake Michigan. If its calm enough, I'd also like to drive up to another lake, but not sure which.
Went back to the same water with Matt this morning. We fished from 7:30 am to 12 pm. Matt said to me this morning "lets count the fish as we catch them". So we did. We had 60 within the first 2 1/2 hours. Mostly on crankbaits. We switched over to a few other baits trying to catch some bigger fish. We stopped counting bass after 75, and figured we ended up with over 100! We had a few pushing 3 lbs., but didn't find the toads. Maybe the 1 to 2 1/2 lbers were just more...

At George we each caught a keeper each and a few shorts. I ended up with a nice Pike. Rick, on George, most of our fish came on spinner baits. Interesting huh?
