Lots of Sandies are stacked in back of creeks right now but have had a few Largemouth take crankbait offerings, too. No giants. The plastic and jig bite has been really non existent except for an occasional small fish. Water temps are still in the high sixties. We are having a couple of days that feel like late fall and then it warms right back up again. For example today, mid eighties.

I did get a hand full of small bass on a spinnerbait, not much to talk about.

Winds out of the north at twenty, sunny sky, air temp 76 water temp 72. Back side of a dry line.

The hardest part of the day was launching the boat because the ramp is on the north side of the lake. Once underway I chose a little protection from the elements and fished banks, current ran parallel, nose in to the wind. Sometimes these fish will hunker down in these areas and wait for something to swim by. With the 100 plus temps lately I didn't really expect much of a bite but it started with eight largemouth stacked up on a point that couldn't resist a Texas rigged plastic. Didn't find anymore stacked in like that but consistently caught fish most of the afternoon in different locations, around timber. Couldn't find a bite in grass or weed beds. I caught fish from 1p.m. till 3:30p.m today in water temps that showed 86 according to the Humminbird. Fish were caught in shady timber. 1st bite came on the second cast with a FlatA bouncing laydowns. I wasn't surprised after heavy rain the night before the fishing wasn't so great. Looked like the lake had risen quite a bit and then was receding rapidly from water marks on standing timber. Parts of the lake were a muddy mess.

I was surprised not be, being rained on, but had ended up just on the back side of the dry line. Watched thunderstorms build all day then race west, away from the lake. I caught Largemouth in the afternoon that were hanging around weeds. Some of them were close to timber but never got a strike on the first drop pitched to it. I mostly caught fish with a green hoodaddy casting then letting it sink to the bottom in 2 to 4 ft. of water and working slow through the garbage.

Caught Sandies with crankbaits on windy points and a couple of catfish bit the crankbaits too. Last week was no fish bonanza, believe me. We did get some decent rain, this week and I'm hoping this perks the fish up a little. Also, I always perk up a little with the moon phase we are in, right now.
